BROOMFIELD, Colo. – WhiteWave Foods, maker of Silk®, Horizon®, International Delight®, LAND O LAKES®* branded liquid dairy products and Fruit2day®, today recognizes its Bridgeton, N.J., plant for two recent successes, including receiving the Ecker Excellence in Industrial Wastewater Treatment Certificate and reaching the milestone of 1 million safe work hours. Both accomplishments demonstrate the plant’s leadership and commitment to corporate responsibility.
The plant was honored with the Ecker Excellence in Industrial Wastewater Treatment Certificate by the New Jersey Water Environment Association (NJWEA) at the annual NJWEA President’s Luncheon awards ceremony in Atlantic City on May 12, 2011. Each year, the award recognizes a New Jersey company that has achieved outstanding performance in industrial wastewater management. Effective wastewater management is just one way the plant upholds its commitment to environmental stewardship.
The Ecker Excellence in Industrial Wastewater Treatment Certificate coincides with the plant’s safety milestone of reaching 1 million safe work hours. The accomplishment is a result of the plant’s safety-conscious operations.
“We’ve worked hard to decrease the environmental impact of our Bridgeton plant, while maintaining a safe workplace for our employees,” said John Bodrog, WhiteWave Foods Bridgeton plant manager. “Our commitments to operational efficiency, environmental responsibility and employee safety are of the utmost importance to us, and we will continue to strive for excellence in these areas.”
WhiteWave’s Bridgeton plant produces products for the Silk brand. Earlier this year, the plant’s 106 employees were recognized with WhiteWave’s Team Wave Award for best exemplifying the company’s mission to be the Earth’s Favorite Food Company and for their commitment to the company’s values.
