Columbus Foods Acknowledged As Community Leader By City Of Hayward, CA

HAYWARD, Calif. — Columbus Foods, makers of premium specialty meats for 95 years, has been named a recipient of the City of Hayward's Business Recognition Award. The honor recognizes Columbus for its contribution to the economic well-being of the city; more than half of Columbus' Bay Area-based employees work in Hayward, which is also home to the company's headquarters.

"Columbus has been doing business in Hayward since 1995," said Tim Fallon, Columbus Foods CEO. "This award is a testament to our strong commitment to our community, employees and our customers."

The recognition comes on the heels of Columbus' recent expansion in Hayward. In June 2011, the company opened a new $31 million, 60,000-square-foot slicing and packaging facility for its deli meats and salame. The plant currently houses three production lines with additional capacity available to allow Columbus to keep pace with the growing national demand for its products.

Columbus' products are rooted in authentic Italian quality and taste. A commitment to three tenets of simple Italian cooking — using only the highest quality ingredients, taking extra time to hand-craft and slow cook, and keeping recipes wholesome with no binders, fillers or additives — ensures that its salumi and deli meats are always a cut above.
