Ganeden Biotech, Cedar's Mediterranean Foods Debut Probiotic Hommus & Wraps

Cleveland, OH – Ganeden Biotech, makers of the probiotic ingredient, GanedenBC30®, and Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods today announced the debut of the world’s first probiotic-fortified wrap, plus a new line of award-winning, all-natural hommus with probiotics at the current International Dairy/Deli/Bakery Association (IDDBA) show in Anaheim, California.

Both products contain the probiotic, GanedenBC30® (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086), which has been shown to support immune function and help promote digestive health.

The all-natural, preservative-free probiotic hommus from Cedar’s, a pioneer in the Mediterranean food category since the 1980s, will initially be introduced in four flavors: Original Tahini, Roasted Red Pepper, Roasted Garlic and Artichoke/Spinach. Suggested retail price for an 8-ounce container is $3.99. The hommus is available immediately for private-label opportunities and distribution to national grocery stores.

Beyond Cedar’s trusted brand name and smooth and creamy taste, the new line of hommus offers consumers the added digestive health benefits of probiotics with GanedenBC30.

“The survivability of GanedenBC30 and ease of adding the probiotic to our hommus really impressed us,” commented Dominick Frocione, Cedar’s Vice President of Sales. “Plus, being able to offer our customers a value-added product that helps with digestive health is a real win for us.”

Cedar’s wraps marks the world’s first wrap to include probiotics, in the form of GanedenBC30. Initial plans are to include GanedenBC30 in the Whole Wheat and Thin White wraps, with the rest of the wrap line following soon after. The probiotic wraps come in a four-slice 10 oz package with a suggested retail price of $3.49.

Available soon in grocery stores nationwide, the wraps can be used as bread substitute for sandwiches and also present a great alternative for pizza or sushi rolls.

“Being the first to market with our probiotic wraps is something we’re very proud of,” explained Frocione. “We’ve made a name for ourselves as an innovator in the Mediterranean food category, and the launch of our wraps and hommus help strengthen that position.”

The introduction of the new probiotic hommus and wraps is the result of a recently formed relationship between probiotic manufacturer Ganeden Biotech and Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods. “Being included in Cedar’s Hommus and Wraps has really helped broaden the range of consumer products that GanedenBC30 is found in,” said Ganeden’s CEO, Andy Lefkowitz.
