New Handmade Mediterranean Cheeses and Natural Yogurts Debut at 2010 IDDBA Expo

Turlock, California – Fresh from winning three medals at the 2010 World Championship Cheese Contest, Karoun Dairies showcased new additions to their handmade Mediterranean cheese line and natural yogurt line at the 2010 International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association Expo in Houston, Texas. Karoun’s old country methods and family Mediterranean recipes are providing natural, ethnic and mainstream consumers delicious new options, from four new flavored Basket Fetas and Labne spreadable Kefir cheeses to Karoun’s Unsalted Grade A Butter and Whipped Butter.

All of Karoun’s handmade cheeses and natural yogurts are created at their state-of-the-art California facility and are made strictly using only milk from cows that are free from growth hormones, BGH/rBST, and are all Real California Milk certified. All Karoun yogurt products are also OU Kosher certified. 

Increasing natural sales and more home-dining are just a few of the factors driving the 15% gain in the cheese category, with natural cheese sales increasing from $6,328 million in 2006 to $7,629 million in 2008 (est.) per the March 2010 Specialty Food Magazine. Consumer interest in healthier and less-processed foods has led to greater sales of better quality products including natural cheese. 

Karoun’s new products include:

  • Mediterranean Basket Fetas: Original; Sundried Tomato and Thyme; Green Olive and Thyme; Kalamata Olive and Thyme
  • Labne(strained yogurt) Kefir Cheese: Original; Sundried Tomato and Thyme; Green Olive and Thyme; Kalamata Olive and Thyme
  • Unsalted Butter and Whipped Butter: all natural, rBST free, Grade A
