Roth Cheese Launches At IDDBA, Flagship Grand Cru Gruyere Leads The Effort

Monroe, WI — An award-winning Wisconsin artisan cheese company with a heritage that dates back to 1863 in Switzerland is getting a new name and a new look and its flagship Grand Cru® Gruyere is leading the charge.

Roth Cheese, formerly Roth Käse USA Ltd., has called Monroe, Wisconsin home for more than two decades. Today, the company is updating its brand and look to better reflect the significance of the terroir of its home in South Central Wisconsin coupled with the traditions of classic European recipes and methods. The new identity prominently features the grasses that evoke the undeniably authentic flavors of the local environment.

Roth Cheese’s Grand Cru Gruyere is the first cheese that will reflect the new brand identity. Grand Cru Gruyere will be debuting the new look at the International Dairy, Deli, Bakery Association’s trade show June 10 – 12 in New Orleans, LA. Roth’s other products including Van Gogh® Gouda, Havarti and American Originals GranQueso® and Buttermilk Blue® will receive the new labels and logo in early 2013.

Grand Cru Gruyere is reflective of all that the Roth Cheese brand represents. The robust flavors are reminiscent of the air and land of the pastures of local Wisconsin family farms and the production methods mirror those of classic Swiss artisanal cheese making traditions. The cheese is prepared in authentic copper vats by our cheese makers and aged on wooden boards in temperature-controlled cellars under the watchful eyes of our cellarmasters. It’s no surprise this award-winning artisan specialty is a favorite of cheese lovers and is one of Roth’s best-selling cheeses.

“Grand Cru Gruyere is such a versatile cheese with a strong fan base and heritage that is so closely tied with the company’s traditions and with southern Wisconsin that it makes sense for it to be the lead in our re-branding effort,” explained Guido Kaelin, vice president of marketing, Emmi Roth USA.

Roth Cheese is a brand of Emmi Roth USA, a subsidiary of Emmi Group. Emmi Group is a leading provider of specialty and artisan cheeses and premium fresh dairy products.
