25,000 Women Honored On International Women’s Day At MIA Airport

Miami, FL: The flower importers who are a part of Globally Grown and Miami International Airport (MIA) joined forces to honor women for International Women’s Day. On March 8th, both flower industry volunteers and MIA employees handed out flowers to women throughout the airport. The theme, Celebrating International Women’s Day and International Flights and Flowers, highlights the importance of the relationship that Miami International Airport has developed with the flower industry—Flowers are the #1 cargo import at MIA.

On Tuesday, March 8th, there were designated areas throughout the airport where flower company employees will be sharing information about International Women’s Day, while honoring women and handing them a flower bouquet. The flower importers of Miami, a Globally Grown partner, provided the 25,000 bouquets of flowers for the event.

To honor women on International Women’s Day, the event was complemented with the following strategies:

  •  Using the hashtag #MIAflowers we encouraged both participants and employees to post and tweet information, pictures and express their feelings about the event in real-time.
  •  Selfie picture boards were carried throughout the airport for people to share their pictures and join MIA and the flower industry in celebrating International Women’s Day.
