FLORENCE, SC — Everybody loves to receive flowers. Especially on Valentine’s Day.
Those are sweet sentiments for the folks at Tommy’s Wholesale Florist. This is their busiest time of year.
With a warehouse full of flowers, Tommy’s staff of about 30 takes orders, packs boxes and hits the road to deliver this year’s crop of roses, baby’s breath and any other flower the heart desires. This week, boxes of roses are stacked in the warehouse in preparation for delivery, red, white, yellow and more interesting colors like purple and orange. Glenn Richardson said the business will distribute about 100,000 roses alone this Valentine’s Day.
“Years ago you only had a few colors, red, white, yellow and pink,” said Richardson. “Today if someone calls and orders red roses, we have to ask ‘which ones?’”
