Joe Don Zetzsche, director of floral for H-E-B BLOOMS™ Floral Shops and PMA Floral Council chair, was named 2013 Floral Marketer of the Year during Saturday evening’s Floral Networking Reception. The award, in its 33rd year, recognizes an outstanding floral professional who has served the mass-market floral industry with dedication and distinction.
“Joe Don is a leader in the industry because he inspires on a personal level,” 2012 award winner and Safeway Vice President and General Manager of floral Traci Adams said. “He rallies the troops together to keep the progress of the industry in a positive direction, and because he delivers attention-getting business results.”
“He has that magical thing called charisma, people believe in him and want to join and follow his cause,” Adams read from nominators’ comments about Zetzsche.
That charisma will help Zetzsche as he begins his role of chairman of PMA’s Floral Council for 2013-2014. Work will be plentiful for the council; in addition to a floral Fresh Connections event being planned for 2014, this year’s new Fresh Summit Floral Pavilion will double in size next year. The pavilion serves as a focal point for floral buyers and sellers.
