PlantShed is a family-owned business that has been providing unparalleled service and high-quality plant life to New York since the 1950’s. Housed in a 10,000 square foot facility, the original Upper West Side Location has been serving NYC since 1981 through its flagship location as and through its established e-commerce platform –PlantShed.com (launched in 2009). This design-centric company has collaborated with global brands ranging from Chanel, KITH, Victoria’s Secret, and WeWork as well as artists such as Olivia Lerner of Bodega Rose and Curtis Kulig. PlantShed’s exceptional team has a diverse background in landscape design, floral design, fashion and horticulture–allowing them to create customizable and tailored arrangements for any occasion.

The newest location will once again showcase PlantShed’s design sensibility and community focus – this time, infused with a hint of downtown edge. Floral bouquets will be available in customized wrapping created in collaboration with NYC artist, Curtis Kulig, known for is iconic “love me” tag frequently seen around the streets of lower Manhattan. The location will also feature art installations on rotation created in collaboration PlantShed’s community of local creators, starting with pieces created by Olivia Lerner of Bodega Rose, on display starting this month. Shoppers of this location will also have the option of personalizing their floral purchases with a selection of handmade pottery, botanical-inspired candles, and quirky greeting cards.

PlantShed’s team of designers and knowledgeable horticulturalists have created an experience like none other–whether you are seeking a mid-afternoon coffee break with a seasonal floral twist or simply looking to find your morning Zen lounging amongst the leaves and blooms, PlantShed’s newest oasis offers one-of-a-kind respite from the buzz of downtown life. Perched on the eastern edge of Nolita, directly across from the New Museum, 1 Prince Street sits at a central hub trafficked by shoppers, museum-goers, tourists and downtown natives alike. Nolita’s newest resident will serve up matcha lattes, espresso drinks, botanical beverages and more from an expertly curated menu crafted by some of NYC’s top baristas.

1 Prince Street marks the third New York floral outlet for PlantShed, preceded by the opening of PlantShed’s first floral café on the Upper West Side this past May, and PlantShed’s flagship store and rooftop greenhouse on West 96th St (which has been operating in its current location since 1981). PlantShed’s expansion and evolution throughout the years reflects their harmonious balance of contemporary style with the timeless ethos of a family company.

“I’m excited to share our newest space that is designed to encompass an entire way of living – a lifestyle centered around nature. We believe in building a community that enjoys café culture, taking our time, and utilizing quality responsibility sourced goods,” says Eric Mourkakos, CEO of PlantShed.  “Expanding the company that my grandfather started decades ago, and which my own parents nurtured throughout my entire life, has been personally exciting and extremely rewarding. We are honored to be able to share our family company with more people across New York, and as we continue to expand into new locations, we are looking forward to continuing to challenge what a traditional retail experience should entail. We believe in creating environments that encourage you to take your time, enjoy artisanal coffee, and hopefully gain valuable plant-based knowledge.

PlantShed’s 1 Prince Street location officially opens to the public on July 26th, 2018 after a brief soft opening in mid-July.  Those not able to experience PlantShed’s offering in-store, however, can shop a wide selection of florals and plants on the company’s long-running e-commerce platform – PlantShed.com, where a curated selection of arrangements and potted plants can be ordered for hand-delivery anywhere in the city.
