Ride For The Roses: Hamifleurs Does Its Bit For Cancer

Hamifleurs and Marjoland, the nursery, are sponsoring Ride for the Roses again this year. The Ride is a mass cycle ride to raise money for KWF Kankerbestrijding (the Dutch Cancer Society).

Marjoland — one of the Netherlands’ biggest rose producers — is also one of the best known and at the cutting edge: with a view to the future, Marjoland is focused on achieving sustainable and solid growth, to let you enjoy the most gorgeous roses for years to come.

Ride for the Roses is not a cycling contest for monetary prizes but a cycling tour, with a Hamifleurs-sponsored rose at the finish line for each participant. These roses symbolise values in life other than financial gain: ideals like human compassion. Cancer is something that can strike any of us! This sobering thought is perhaps the reason why human compassion is such a vital part of the fight against cancer in particular. Modelled on Lance Armstrong’s original initiative, the Dutch version of Ride for the Roses has been held annually since 1998. This year, the event is at Aalsmeer. Thousands of cycling enthusiasts and amateurs will be joining in: not only because they obviously enjoy cycling, but above all because they have personal experiences that move them to do something about cancer.

Our fundraising support for the KWF through Ride for the Roses is a part of our involvement with the companies of Dutch Flower Group. This year, Dutch Flower Group will have nearly 300 staff present at the event, with 30 Hamifleurs staff getting on their bikes to do their bit for the KWF!
