State Assembly Passes California Cut Flowers Resolution

Wednesday, the State Assembly passed Assembly Joint Resolution 15, authored by Assembly member Luis A. Alejo (D-Salinas) and recognizing the California Cut Flower Industry.

With 68 votes in support, and 63 coauthors, the resolution now heads to the State Senate for final approval.

The resolution was introduced in response to the increasing challenges facing the California floriculture industry.

Federal Free Trade Agreements have significantly increased cut flower imports from South America in recent years and federal subsidies to these countries are threatening the future of the domestic cut flower industry.
