Terra Nova Nurseries Introduces Four New Perennial Varieties

CANBY, Ore. – Terra Nova Nurseries announced today four new introductions now available to garden centers, including Echinacea ‘Secret Love’, Echinacea ‘Colorburst Orange’, Plectranthus ‘Velvet Elvis’, and Helleborus Winter Jewels™ ‘Red Sapphire’. These new perennial varieties will add bold color, depth and charm to garden center displays this spring and summer.

Echinacea ‘Secret Love’, part of the company’s popular Echinacea Secret™ series, has vibrant red, double anemone-type flowers. With its low-mounding, mid-upright habit, this plant is ideal for mixed beds and mass landscapes. ‘Secret Love’ is drought-tolerant, deer-resistant and fragrant. It grows best in zones 4 – 10.

Echinacea ‘Colorburst Orange’ has lovely double-orange flowers and a short, well-branched habit. The anemone-type double flowers open with dark centers that change from lime-green to orange. ‘Colorburst Orange’ is part of the company’s brand new Echinacea Colorburst™ series. It has excellent vigor and blooms from summer to fall. The eye-catching flowers are very large and the stems are extra strong. This exciting new echinacea is perfect for attracting hummingbird and butterflies.

Plectranthus ‘Velvet Elvis’ is bold and showy with inflorescences of large lavender-blue flowers and very dark green leaves. It has a compact habit and requires organic, humus-rich soil. This new introduction is a fast-growing, shrubby perennial. ‘Velvet Elvis’ is perfect for containers, front of the border or mass plantings. The average size includes 28” Width / 31” Height / 32” Flower Height and it performs well in zones 9 – 11.

Helleborus Winter Jewels™ ‘Red Sapphire’ is the newest addition to Terra Nova Nurseries’ Helleborus Winter Jewels™ Series, which includes 12 other varieties bred by Marietta O’Byrne. This plant blooms double, rose-red flowers from March until May and it is deer-resistant and shade-tolerant. ‘Red Sapphire’ performs best in zones 5 – 8. The average size includes 12” Width / 24” Height / 14” Flower Height.
