WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) plant protection and quarantine (PPQ) program is announcing the availability of a new email subscription service for plant health stakeholders.
This service allows individuals to receive updates on a variety of plant health topics and provides PPQ with an immediate means to relay important messages to stakeholders. Individuals can sign up now for this free, Web-based subscription service at https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/USDAAPHIS/
subscriber/new or by clicking on the red envelope icon throughout the plant health pages on the APHIS website.
Subscribers can elect to receive updates on relevant topics including PPQ hot issues, federal notices, plant pests and diseases and agricultural trade. The registry will also allow individuals to determine the frequency of email messages, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds or SMS (Short Message Service) text messages.
Stakeholders will be able to sign up for updates on PPQ topics through other USDA agencies, such as the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) and Farm Service Agency (FSA). After stakeholders have subscribed to the service with one agency, they are offered the opportunity to subscribe to relevant topics offered by other agencies.
The new email subscription service will replace the current PPQ Stakeholder Registry. Subscribers to the current registry must sign up for the new service in order to continue receiving information on topics of interest. The new service will replace the current registry on July 8.
