OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha Steaks today proudly announced that Company Chairman and Fourth Generation Family Owner, Alan Simon, was inducted into the Meat Industry Hall of Fame at an Induction Ceremony held in Chicago on November 1. As one of 12 members of Class of 2011, Simon joins a list of industry executives, scientists, innovators and association leaders from all sectors of the livestock, meat and poultry processing industries who have received this prestigious honor.
Exemplifying the two basic tenets of the Meat Industry Hall of Fame – service to the industry as well as the community, Alan Simon, along with his brothers Frederick and Stephen helped build their grandfather's meat business into an industry leader and innovator, with a long-standing reputation of community service and support.
In his role as an industry leader, Simon has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Meat Institute (AMI), the Beef Industry Food Safety Council (BIFSCo) and the National Association of Meat Purveyors, now known as the North American Meat Processors Association (NAMP). Giving back to the community, Simon has been actively involved in various civic, charitable and cultural organizations both locally and nationally. He has volunteered his time with the Boy Scouts of America, Goodwill Industries, The Salvation Army and Omaha Children's Hospital.
