Quebec Veal Processors Merging

The largest veal and lamb processor in North America, Délimax-Montpak, of Saint-Hyacinthe, buys its Ontario competitor Écolait, known for the Vivo brand calf.

The transaction is close to $ 50 million, as approximately $ 25 million will need to be invested in "upgrading international [Écolait] buildings for animal health and welfare by December 31, 2018" , explains in an interview Fabien Fontaine, CEO of Delimax-Montpak group.

The turnover of the family business will increase from 325 to 425 million dollars. Its production and processing capacity will jump by almost 50%. Its markets, mainly Canada and the United States, will remain the same.
