Boggiatto Produce Celebrates 25 Years Of Innovation & Integrity

SALINAS, Calif. – Established in 1989, Boggiatto Produce is known for its leading-edge innovation and an agricultural heritage that is a microcosm of the Salinas Valley. Its four founding shareholders, Michael Boggiatto, Jeffry Hitchcock, Ron Panziera and Ed Panziera, are grounded in three centuries of Salinas Valley farming history.

Michael Boggiatto, president of the company, is a third-generation grower-shipper. His family began farming in the Salinas Valley in the 1920s, becoming one of the major artichoke grower-shippers in the United States. Vice President Jeffry Hitchcock is a fourth-generation member of one of the Salinas Valley’s foremost farming families, dating back to the 1880s. Brothers Ron and Ed Panziera, company directors, grow a large portion of the fresh produce sold by the company. Their family has been farming in the Soledad area of the Salinas Valley since the early 1930s.

Boggiatto Produce has been on agriculture’s leading edge since its inception. In 1992, the company developed and pioneered romaine hearts for the foodservice industry with the introduction of its Garden Hearts® romaine hearts. In 2005, the company once again broke new ground with the introduction of Garden Hearts® Iceberg Babies®. These palm-size heads of iceberg lettuce have reinvigorated the category.

“At Boggiatto Produce, our agricultural and family legacies have always set the tone for how we do business,” stated President Michael Boggiatto. “It’s our responsibility and central to our Quality to the Core™ commitment. That legacy extends to our close-knit team of key employees. A large majority of our employees have been with the company from between 10 and 25 years. Each and every one has been instrumental in the success we enjoy. The future of Boggiatto Produce has yet to be written, but we will remain steadfast in our commitment to our customers, our people, our products, and stewardship of our land and the environment.”
