SALINAS, Calif. – Mann Packing Company participated Saturday, June 29, in the opening day activities for the Salinas Junior Giants Little League organization at El Dorado Park in Salinas.
Ten Mann employees attended the opening day activities and helped distribute 500 baseball gloves for the kids in the program; this is the third year Mann has been a program sponsor.
The Jr. Giants program has 20,000 participants in California and Oregon and teaches more than just baseball skills in the summer-long program.
In Salinas, for example, the opening ceremony included an anti-bullying pledge. The program also provides instruction on healthy nutrition and reading programs. Click here for more background on this free summer program
This year was the largest sign up to date, said Susan Cameron, marketing coordinator, Mann Packing.
“We are so proud to be part of this great program for our community and we want to make sure all the children who participate are able to – and have the right equipment,” Cameron said. “These kids are our future.”
