Mariani Nut Co. Introduces New Line Of Seasoned Almonds

WINTERS, Calif., September 1, 2010— Mariani Nut Company, a California-grower and supplier of premium almonds, has introduced a new line of seasoned almonds to join the company’s natural whole, sliced and slivered nuts in the fresh produce aisles.

Honey Roasted, Wasabi & Soy and Roasted & Salted seasoned almonds are now available in convenient, resealable 6 oz. packages. They can already be found at numerous national retail chain and independent grocers.

This is the company’s entrance into the seasoned category and is seen as a perfect extension to the traditional line of unseasoned almonds. It is in response to the growing demand by consumers who want healthy and flavorful foods. Data shows that almost 70 per cent of U.S. consumers say they are eating more nutritiously. These whole almonds in sweet, savory and spicy varieties are aimed at adults who are making lifestyle changes in their choice of foods and eating patterns.

“The satisfying seasonings along with the significant nutritional benefits of almonds for the price are recognized by health-conscious consumers as a good value, when compared to the empty calories and cost of typical fast-food offerings,” said Matt Mariani who oversees the company’s sales and marketing strategies.

Late last year, Mariani said the company received an upbeat response to their “Get Your Heart Pumping” retail campaign and knew the timing was good to expand their product line.

Research suggests that a one-ounce serving of almonds a day, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, can help you maintain a healthy cholesterol level. More recent research says that among the general population two servings are even better. Dietary guidelines describe a one-ounce serving, or handful, as equal to approximately 23 almonds.

The new foil package photography prominently features a California almond orchard in full bloom; a familiar spring-time sight along California’s country roads. Nearly all of the nation’s almonds are grown in the fertile Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. The packages can be found in the retail produce sections with dried fruits and nuts.

Suggested retail price is $2.99. Additional seasonings are being tested and are expected to be added to the product line soon.
