Grower Direct Marketing, Stockton Ca. and OG Packing has once again kicked off the California tree fruit season as we have begun shipping our proprietary Monstercot®. This is the 5th harvest season for these apricots that have taken the market by storm.
For those of us who have had the privilege of eating fruit picked directly from the tree, we know that there are few experiences that equal it. OG Packing has created the Monstercot® for the millions who may never get that chance. It took several years for us to develop these apricots to be an extremely high color, bright blush, extra-sweet and very juicy piece of fruit. Mark Cotton of Grower Direct Marketing, LLC says, “We want customers to feel like they just reached into our orchard and picked their own…its that good!” To accomplish this, our growing team traveled around the world to work with horticulture experts and have created a fruit that exceeds expectations in flavor, sweetness and maybe most important, eating experience.
We have to spend a little more time and use more care with these apricots to make sure that retailers get the highest quality fruit possible. As the Monstercot® come off the tree they are packed into totes and sent into the packing shed immediately where they are cooled, packed and shipped to retailers across the country. Most of these Monstercots® will be picked and delivered to retailers in 24-48 hours. The timing it takes to get to retailers is key in delivering such a high quality product to their customers. Their outstanding flavor makes them ready to eat immediately, which is one of the key selling points.
“This one of-a-kind, proprietary variety ripens earlier than traditional apricots, provides a much more brilliant color for consumers and tastes far better than any other product on the market” Mark said. We have had consecutive increased orders from retailers for these varieties and already strong interest this year as the season has just kicked off. Our growers are significantly increasing acreage to these varieties due to their disease tolerance, early harvest and resistance to visual defects from mother natures due to rain and hail.
