Schnucks & Frieda's Partnered For Fall Produce University Session

LOS ALAMITOS, CA –The produce experts at Schnucks eagerly shared their knowledge with shoppers during another Frieda’s Produce University® event on Saturday, November 12. Schnucks produce managers were on-hand throughout the day to share their knowledge with customers, hand out samples, and suggest new ways to incorporate produce for their holiday cooking.

The event took place at all Schnucks, Logli, and Hilander locations in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin. This session of Produce University® featured a variety of fall produce items, including: Cipolline Onions, Russian Banana Fingerling Potatoes, Jicama, Frieda’s French Style Crêpes, Pine Nuts, Tomato Toss™, and Zululand Queen Baby Pineapples. Schnucks’ produce managers showed shoppers how easy it is to use these items in their holiday, and everyday, cooking.

Schnucks has offered several sessions of Frieda’s Produce University® over the past few years, including education on citrus and melons. “Produce University® continues to better our produce managers’ knowledge and relationships with customers while providing the shoppers with a unique experience in the produce department they don’t usually get to have,” said Mike O’Brien, Vice President of Produce for Schnucks Markets.

Each Frieda’s Produce University® session begins weeks in advance with produce manager training seminars, prior to the in-store event, to familiarize the teams with the featured products. Frieda’s marketing team provides in-depth information on each item, in addition to point-of-sale signage and informational brochures.

Since 1989, Frieda's Produce University® has helped educate consumers with in-depth product information, preparation ideas and samples of the latest specialty fruits and vegetables within grocers’ produce departments.

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 100 stores (including five Logli and seven Hilander stores) and 95 in-store pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa. Follow Schnucks on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Schnucks.
