Stemilt Launches National Chant At The Moon Day

WENATCHEE, Wash. –  To recognize one of the most well-known cherry products in the world, Stemilt Growers created National Chant at the Moon Day happening this year on August 15.  Recognized by National Today, an online media outlet recognizing National Days of all kinds, National Chant at the Moon is a day dedicated to celebrating Stemilt’s high-elevation cherries that are literally grown a half mile closer to the moon by fourth generation cherry grower, Kyle Mathison. Stemilt invites retailers to join the chant and the promotion of A Half Mile Closer to the Moon® cherries.

Mathison, a man known for his creative growing standards and exceptional cherries prefers to align his harvest around lunar cycles. He grows in unique microclimates that are abundant with fresh water and volcanic, nutrient-rich soils to achieve World Famous standards. Stemilt’s marketing director, Roger Pepperl is excited about this new national day and believes it will be a great way for retailers to cultivate people around a unique farm to fork story.

“National Chant at the Moon Day is a great way to rally around a product that has a unique situation that no other cherry in the world has,” states Pepperl. “Kyle Mathison has researched and tested the way his cherries are grown, and by tapping into some of mother nature’s greatest elements he achieves World Famous cherries.”

The moon is commonly known to be a great power of nature and it influences Earth’s ecosystems and climates. Without it, Earth would wobble and tilt which would result in changing the planet’s climate to either extreme colds or extreme heats making it an uninhabitual environment to live on. The moon’s power strongly supports Kyle’s belief that lunar cycles help cherries gain extra sugars and complex flavors because the tree’s roots are benefitting from the extra gravitational pull from the moon. A Half Mile Closer to the Moon Cherries® are grown in the Amigos Orchards, a high-elevation orchard that sit between 2,640-3,500 feet above sea and literally a half mile closer to the moon! These high elevation orchards combine with late-ripening varieties to allow Stemilt to extend its cherry season into September.

Retailers can start loading for A Half Mile Closer to the Moon® cherries around August 10th, giving retailers plenty of time to plan for this promotional window.

“Planning now for the month of August with A Half Mile Closer to the Moon® cherries will help retailers wrap up their cherry season nicely,” states Pepperl. “And to help support retailers during this key promotional period, our team is offering resources, including toolkits, advertisements, social posts and more.”
