Oceano, California – Tasti-Lee® Tomatoes is pleased to announce it is the Official Tomato Sponsor of the 19th Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival.
Tasti-Lee, a new, naturally-developed tomato variety, has had great success in the Eastern United States this year. In anticipation of its upcoming California launch, Tasti-Lee hopes to create a buzz about their tomatoes at the festival, which is close to Oxnard’s own Deardorff Family Farms. As Deardorff is Tasti-Lee’s West coast grower/packer, “it seemed a perfect opportunity to introduce our tomatoes to the 50,000 people attending the festival,” said Jeff Trickett, Tasti-Lee’s Sales and Marketing Manager.
The annual Oxnard Salsa Festival is California’s largest celebration of everything salsa—food, music and dance. The festival will be held July 28-29, 2012 from 11 am to 7 pm. It will take place in Plaza Park and on the surrounding streets in downtown Oxnard, to showcase Oxnard’s multicultural heritage and agricultural roots. One of the main attractions will be the 40 x 120 foot Salsa Tasting Tent, where festival attendees can sample gourmet and freshly-made restaurant salsas. Samples of Tasti-Lee Tomatoes will also be available inside the Salsa Tasting Tent. The festival also features main stage entertainment, salsa dance, a demo kitchen, vendor booths, tortilla art for kids, and recipe contests.
Tasti-Lee is also sponsoring the Festival’s Salsa Tasting Menu Guide, which features local restaurants and gourmet salsa makers participating at the festival, including those in the Salsa Tasting Tent. The Guide describes the different flavors and types of salsas available for sampling, and where festival goers can enjoy these creations all year round.
Tasti-Lee has joined Gills Onions of Oxnard, which has been the Official Onion Sponsor for more than ten years. “It has been a great partnership,” said festival representative Ruth Ballin. “They enjoy the connection with the local community, and the promotion of their onions to our audience. And of course, tomatoes are a great fit for the salsa theme.”
