Team Superfresh Growers Raises Money & Awareness During 'Movember'

Yakima, WA. – Domex Superfresh Growers® is committed to making meaningful differences in everything they do including the good health of its customers and the battle against cancer. During the month of November the company participated in a male cancer awareness and fund raising campaign called Movember – the name is derived from the common nickname for a moustache, “mo”. During the month 26 employees and vendors of Superfresh Growers sprouted a mustache and solicited friends, family, coworkers and customers to contribute money toward the research and treatment of prostate cancer. They raised $3,775 and the Kershaw family matched the contribution bringing the total raised during our Movember event to $7,550.

“It was ‘hairy’ month”, states Robert Kershaw, president, “but for a very worthwhile cause. The staff approached us about participating and supporting them in their efforts. We were excited about this opportunity to make a difference and are very proud of our staff for getting involved in projects like this”, concludes Kershaw who sported a moustache for the first time ever for this year’s event.

“It was our first year and we are happy with the results”, says Eric Campbell, team captain and graphic artist for Superfresh Growers. “To raise $7,500 in the first year is very encouraging for next year. We already have commitments from most of this year’s team members for next Movember”, he notes. “Cancer is such a devastating disease and you hear so much about it, it was nice to find a way to help that was different from the ordinary”, he concludes.
