The company that bought meat purveyor Allen Bros. Inc. of Chicago in December is expanding here by opening a food distribution center it says could lead to more local acquisitions.
Chefs' Warehouse Inc. of Ridgefield, Conn., is leasing 108,000 square feet in a retrofitted building at 2801 S. Western Ave., according to the landlord and a broker representing the company.
“It's . . . the biggest market that we're not in, and we've been waiting for this for a while,” Chefs' Warehouse CEO Christopher Pappas told analysts in a May 1 conference call.
