Coborn's Plans To Buy Five North Dakota Liquor Stores

Coborn’s Inc. has announced plans to acquire four liquor stores in Bismarck, N.D., and another in Mandan, N.D., as further evidence of the company’s expansion into areas impacted by the oil boom of recent years.

Coborn’s, which has a Cash Wise Liquor store in Bismarck, will buy four Captain Jack’s liquor stores in Bismarck and one Bill’s Liquor store in Mandan, pending approval of license transfers at coming city council meetings in both cities.

Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

The stores have been operated since 1982 by brothers Tom and John Miller, who plan to retire on Jan. 1. The 50 employees at the five stores will be retained. The stores will operate as Captain Jack’s to retain brand equity.
