Jimtown Announces New Food Service Program

Healdsburg CA – Jimtown Spreads, Sauces and Dips have been sold throughout the West Coast for over 20 years. "We opened Jimtown in 1991 with a chalkboard menu that included a Brie & Olive sandwich and a Prosciutto, Fig & Olive Tapenade and Blue Cheese sandwich, both on baguette. These instantly became customer favorites,” says Carrie Brown, Jimtown co-founder, “In fact, the sandwiches were such hits that people constantly wanted to purchase the spreads. That gave us the idea to create wholesale versions of our Jimtown Chopped Olive and Fig & Olive tapenades."

Inspiration for the condiments comes from favorite American culinary traditions like the beloved New Orleans Mufaletta, with trips to Spain and Sicily sparking versions of Romesco and Caponata. Grilled Eggplant, Romesco and Provolone sandwich was on the Jimtown menu from day one. A vegetarian offering – according to Brown, "It’s perennial; we're not allowed to change it! Our food is prepared using home-grown California ingredients: artichokes, olives, figs, almonds, olive oil and herbs; all sunny Mediterranean and Meso-American favorites." Even Elvis inspired a sandwich: Peanut Butter, Bacon and Spicy Pepper Jam on whole-wheat toast!

There are seven condiments in the Jimtown line: Chopped Olive, Fig & Olive, Artichoke, Olive & Caper, Spicy Olive, Romesco, Spicy Pepper Jam and Caponata. All natural, non-dairy, gluten free, produced with certified Non-GMO Canola Oil and mostly vegan, Fig & Olive the exception with a touch of local honey. Packed in 5-pound bags in 10-pound cases, Jimtown Food Service condiments are easy to use with great shelf life. Cost efficient and exciting to work with, these products replace mustard and mayo to make enticing sandwiches that wake up customer taste buds. Create healthy, mouth-watering vegetarian sandwiches like a Grilled Cheese with tangy Spicy Pepper Jam. Beyond sandwiches, add zip, zest and zeal to salads, entrees, artisan cheese boards and salumi platters. Pair Jimtown Spreads with crackers, rustic breads and raw vegetables. Toss into bean and whole grain salads, top pizzas & flatbreads, create enticing dips and use as a sauté seasoning or marinade on vegetables, fish, meat and foul.

Jimtown chefs have tested and served recipes made with these condiments at the Jimtown store deli and catering events for over twenty years. They are economical, delicious and easy to prepare. “Our kitchen is inspired by the bounty of local produce and ingredients from the farmers and purveyors that surround us. Jimtown fresh condiments provide a window into the cuisine and experience that has made us a beloved destination for over two decades,” states Brown.
