Smith's Food & Drug Launches 'Simple' Organic Brand

Smith’s Food & Drug Stores have launched a new brand that seeks to make the purchase of natural and organic products less confusing for its customers.

The “Simple Truth” products feature more than 250 items across 40 product categories in the dairy, meat, produce, frozen foods, snack foods, canned fruits and vegetables, cereals and bread aisles of the store.

“The Simple Truth products are clearly marked with a green circular logo and have straightforward ingredient statements,” a news release said.

Smith’s said the products are free from 101 artificial preservatives and ingredients that some customers have said they do not want in their foods. The ingredients include aspartame, high-fructose corn syrup and trans fats. In addition, the Simple Truth brands of meat, chicken and eggs contain no antibiotics, hormones or artificial ingredients. Smith’s said its meats are also minimally processed and are fed an all-vegetarian diet.
