Alabama Seafood Summit: Local Industry's Resurgence Hinges On Relationships, Cooperation

MOBILE, Alabama – Raise your hand if you knew any of the following:

•Sysco Gulf Coast services more than 6,000 restaurants – two to three times per week, every week.

•Whole Foods Market considers buying and selling local products a core belief and a key differentiator that’s helped the company carve and maintain a fiercely loyal niche.

•Mobile-based Wintzell’s Oyster House, which now boasts 11 locations, will open its first restaurant north of the Mason-Dixon Line in Pittsburgh this June.

These and other juicy tidbits were among the conversations circulating Tuesday during the inaugural Alabama Seafood Summit at Arthur R. Outlaw Convention Center in downtown Mobile, but the overriding message was much more direct.
