The Global Aquaculture Alliance, the leading standards-setting organization for aquaculture seafood, is pleased to announce the Best Aquaculture Practices certification of four salmon farms owned and operated in British Columbia, Canada, by Grieg Seafood B.C. Ltd.
Family-owned Grieg Seafood rears its "craft-raised" Skuna Bay Salmon at these farms.

Skuna Bay raises its salmon in Nootka Sound, an isolated region with ideal salinity and tidal conditions off the coast of Vancouver Island. Patented innovations in packaging and a tamper-proof traceable seal ensure the salmon's freshness is preserved as it is delivered from the ocean to chefs' kitchens.
BAP certification is based on the international Best Aquaculture Practices standards developed by the Global Aquaculture Alliance. For salmon and other major farmed species, BAP requires effective management of animal health, feed inputs, water quality and food safety. In a process that includes site inspections and in-depth audits, social responsibility and traceability are additional requirements.
