Shrimp Pimp Food Truck Uses Fresh Sustainable Ingredients

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 — Street walkers of L.A. rejoice! Shrimp Pimp is cruising your corner. Serving up seafood with exotic flavors. Just weeks out of the gate and Shrimp Pimp food truck is already featured on the Rachael Ray Show.

Using fresh sustainable ingredients, the Shrimp Pimp menu boasts a fusion of world flavors that pack an exotic twist. The impossible-to-miss truck can be seen all over Los Angeles dishing out fresh Sashimi Tuna Tacos, Shrimp & Chips, Po Boys, Drunken Shrimp Tacos, and much more.

Shrimp Pimp's founder, Neil Macleod is a former New York City restaurateur who's worked under renowned chefs, including Jean Georges Vongerichten and Mario Batali. Prior to opening his West Village restaurant Indigo, Neil learned the seafood trade inside and out while working at the premier New York City seafood purveyor, Wild Edibles. Macleod’s wife Chandra, is also a seafood trade veteran, procuring and marketing premium seafood for the past 20 years.

Macleod left his culinary roots in NYC to follow his love, Chandra to LA. "I’ve been dying to get back into the restaurant business since I moved to California," confesses Neil. "I’ve kept a close eye on the food trucks for a while and wanted to do something different. I found my niche by offering delicious high-quality seafood dishes."

Shrimp Pimp uses the highest grade sustainable shrimp, seafood and sashimi-grade tuna. The shrimp is sourced from the only imported farm-raised shrimp purveyor recognized as sustainable by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program.

If 'heart-healthy' seafood is not a priority, Neil — a native Scotsman — dons his kilt and serves up an amazing Fish & Chips he dubs "The Frylander," inspired by his roots and made with Guinness beer batter. And for those seeking a Happy Ending, the Pimp promises not to disappoint, with a full offering of Ho-Ho’s for dessert.

“It’s been a lot of hard work to get this all to happen," Neil says. "Shrimpin' ain't easy, but it sho is fun!"
