Boston, MA – Stavis Seafoods, a leading international importer, exporter and distributor of fresh and frozen seafood, today announced the hiring of warehousing veteran John Murphy as its new VP of Operations and quality control expert Mark Queenan as its new Quality Assurance Director. Both are new positions at Stavis as the company expands its ability to reach new customers, deliver superior quality seafood and develop world class QA, processing and distribution capabilities. Murphy and Queenan will be integral parts of the company’s commitment to growth and developing new business channels.

Both hires will collaborate closely with Ruth Levy, Stavis’ Chief Business Officer, to expand supply chain capabilities, QA processes, product development and overall procurement and distribution into national chain, foodservice and retail accounts. “John and Mark have highly defined experiences and focuses that will help us continue to grow,” added Levy. “John’s warehousing and fulfillment experience coupled with Mark’s ability to meet and exceed quality certification standards will be vital in expanding not only sales to current customers but to new channels as well.”
John Murphy’s expertise includes developing turnkey, complete distribution solutions for grocery stores and retail chains. His previous experience includes supervising operations at VersaCold, where he managed the cold storage, distribution and fulfillment needs for multiple facilities servicing national retail outlets. He also held management positions at CSI Integrated (before it changed names to VersaCold), handling warehousing distribution and supply chain needs for the company. His expertise includes developing and implementing operations, logistical, transportation, fleet management and distribution improvements for foodservice and high-end retailers.
Mark Queenan’s resume includes successfully penetrating the fickle retail industry with what was previously considered a commodity item. His work in product development and QA specifications helped Backyard Farms vine tomatoes become a widely sought after retail brand. Queenan is Seafood-HACCP Certified, a certified professional food safety practitioner, ASQ certified and his experience in the food industry includes Backyard Farms as well as serving as the Director of QA for Joseph’s Gourmet Pasta and Sauce and managing QA for a Canadian lobster facility. His knowledge includes developing and implementing all-encompassing quality control systems, ensuring environmental and product safety standards, and implementing detailed product specifications and processes for retail environments.
