Students can wrap their hands around a cup of comfort this winter with Chartwells K12’s new Hot Chocolate Milk concept. Featuring delicious hot chocolate milk served during breakfast and lunch, kids can enjoy their mug of cocoa with an array of tempting toppings as they create their custom specialty beverage in the school cafeteria. The concept is launching in over 55 pilot schools this month, including Harper Creek Schools (Mich.), Hockinson School District (Wash.), and Stamford Public Schools (Conn.).

Royal Crest Dairy, of Longmont Colorado, is voluntarily recalling Farmer’s 2% Reduced Fat Chocolate Milk Pints with the code date of AUG-22 because it has the potential to be contaminated with an undeclared egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

After IDFA Advocacy, NYC Mayor Adams Allows Flavored Milk in NYC Schools

 The InternationalDairy Foods Association (IDFA) celebrates the decision by New York City Mayor Eric Adams to allow New York City public schools to continue to serve nutritious, low-fat and fat-free flavored milk with school meals. TheNew York Post reported over the weekend that Mayor Adams is “backing off his proposed ban on chocolate milk” in New York City public school meals. Instead, the mayor’s administration is honoring a longstanding policy in New York City government that allows individual schools to determine the types of milk they will serve with meals as long as the milk options are consistent with standards from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
