EFI Announces Leadership Team Advisory Group

Equitable Food Initiative, the workforce development and certification organization that partners with growers, farmworkers, retailers and consumer groups, announces the formation of its leadership team advisory group as a standing committee of EFI’s board of directors. The group is made up of farmworkers and production managers from certified farms who have completed EFI’s leadership team program training and participate in on-farm worker-manager collaborative teams.

Stemilt Becomes First Apple & Cherry Company to Achieve Full Equitable Food Initiative Certification

Stemilt received new Equitable Food Initiative (EFI) certifications in [August] to become the first apple, pear, and cherry company to achieve EFI certification of its entire operation. The new certifications bring EFI standards and continuous improvement practices into all Stemilt-owned orchards and warehouse facilities and represent over 3500 employees.

EFI Receives Two-Year Grant From California Workforce Development Board

Equitable Food Initiative, the workforce development and certification organization that partners with growers, farmworkers, retailers and consumer groups, announced a two-year grant from the California Workforce Development Board awarded in conjunction with Measure to Improve, LLC. Measure to Improve is a leading sustainability consultant in the fresh produce industry and will work with EFI to evaluate improved worker outcomes and reduced greenhouse gas emissions from implementing new waste reduction efforts.
