Specialty Food Association Winter Fancy Food Show Welcomes Innovators and Entrepreneurs

The specialty food industry, representing nearly $150 billion in annual sales, is gathering in San Francisco for the Winter Fancy Food Show from Sunday, January 19 through Tuesday, January 21. Hosted by the Specialty Food Association (SFA), a not-for-profit association with over 3,800 members, the show features 1,400+ companies exhibiting over 80,000 specialty foods – something for every palate.

SFA to Honor Leadership Award Winners

The SFA will honor the 2020 Leadership award winners at a ceremony at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco on Sunday, January 19. The ceremony will immediately follow the SFA Member Update Meeting that begins at 5 p.m. The awards honor champions of the specialty food industry in three categories: Business Leadership, Citizenship, and Vision.

Founding Specialty Food Association Member Alfred Lepore Has Passed Away

Alfred Lepore, whose company Ferrara was one of the Specialty Food Association’s founding members, has passed away at the age of 81. Ferrara, which started out as a small Italian bakery, was founded in 1892 by Alfred’s great uncle, who then passed it down to Alfred’s father, and in the 1960’s, to Alfred and his brother Anthony.

SFA, Industry Stakeholders Request Tariff Accommodation

The Specialty Food Association and dozens of industry stakeholders have requested in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, that all goods exported from Europe on October 2 or earlier be exempt from the retaliatory tariffs that are scheduled to take effect on certain specialites from the E.U., tomorrow.
