Colombia’s leading flower show Proflora – held every two years – is due again in the beginning of October. The trade fair has a lot to offer, particularly for traders sourcing their flowers from the South American continent.
Proflora 2013 will feature a wide range of exhibiting companies, as well as tours of local flower farms; a golf tournament jokily pitting exhibitors against buyers, various breeding and grower contests, and even an introductory speech by the president of Colombia himself – Juan Manuel Santos.
“The show will again feature a carbon-offset program that allows attendees to help lessen the impact of their travel to the show on the environment by making contributions for reforestation or land conservation”, adds Cristina Uricoechea, the show’s director for 22 years.
Preshow tours of flower farms in the country’s main flower-growing region will set off the program. The excursions, open to international buyers, will stop at various firms that are exhibiting at the Proflora fair.
