ELK GROVE, CA – An Elk Grove bakery facility supplying bread products and tortillas under brand names such as Entenmann, EarthGrains, Oroweat, Thomas and Tia Rosa is closing.
Bimbo Bakery at 10115 Iron Rock Way employs 168 workers.
Bimbo Bakeries USA spokesperson Davis Margulies confirmed the closure Thursday.
Regional Vice President of Operations Joe Dangelmaier said the Elk Grove plant did not have the manufacturing capability to be competitive. The product made at the Elk Grove bakery would be shifted to other Bimbo facilities.
