Joan Axelrod Siegelwax Of Love & Quiches Desserts Honored

NEW YORK, NY – Love and Quiches Desserts® (www.loveandquiches.com), one of the nation’s leading gourmet dessert and quiche manufacturers, today announced that Joan Axelrod Siegelwax, the company’s vice president of sales and marketing, has been selected as one of Long Island Business News’ Fifty Around 50 for 2012. Axelrod will be honored at a celebration on Thursday, October 18th at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY, along with other influential Long Island business leaders.

"Joan’s philanthropic spirit, continued support for Long Island not-for-profit organizations, willingness to mentor others and her overall business leadership are some of the many reasons she’s being honored alongside some of the Island’s most distinguished men and women, says Susan Axelrod, chairwoman and founder of Love and Quiches Desserts, which is based in Freeport, NY." We could not be more proud of her and of all she’s accomplished in her 25-plus-year career in the foodservice industry.

Making a Difference Locally

Axelrod’s commitment to the local community is evident in her ongoing philanthropic work. A recent example is her planned participation in a Simon Fashion Now® event, to be held at the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City, NY on Friday, October 12th at 1 p.m. Axelrod will walk the catwalk as part of Design Wars, an interactive fashion competition featuring students from Nassau Community College, who have been challenged to create a red carpet look highlighting a food theme, along with an accessory constructed from kitchen utensils to accompany the look. The event will bring focus to – and raise funds for – hunger-related issues in time for October 16th, which is World Food Day.

Axelrod, along with her colleagues at Love and Quiches, supports the company’s Cakes for Kids® program, which combats children’s hunger locally through a partnership with Long Island charity Island Harvest, as well as nationally. They are also proud supporters of the Wounded Warriors program, which assists the fallen heroes of the U.S. military, as well as numerous charitable and youth organizations on Long Island. Recipients of the company’s donated product have included Operation Pride of Freeport, the Coalition for Domestic Violence, Youth Outreach, Ronald McDonald House, Catholic Charities of Freeport, the Harry Chapin Food Bank, the Hospice Care Network and the Les Turner ALS Foundation.
