Oregon Fishery Managers: Dungeness Crab May Be In 'Down Cycle'

Fishery managers say the Dungeness crab population may be in a down cycle. Troy Buell is a crab fishery manager for Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. He says it's really hard to predict how big the crab catch will be from year to year.

Louisiana DHH Recalls Oysters, Closes Oyster Harvesting Area In Cameron Parish

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) moved quickly Friday to close a Cameron Parish molluscan shellfish harvesting area located in Basin 3, Area 30. This is a preventive health measure in response to people becoming ill after eating oysters harvested from that area. DHH also ordered a recall of all oysters harvested from that area since Dec. 28, 2012, including shucked, frozen, breaded, post-harvest processed and oysters for the half shell market.

P.E.I. Lobster Fishermen Call For Roundtable After Poor Prices

Fishermen in P.E.I. are calling for a roundtable on the lobster fishery after hearing that the 2012 catch by their counterparts in Maine rivals the entire volume landed in Atlantic Canada.
