Yogurt As New York State Snack Gets Committee Approval

An effort by elementary students to have yogurt declared the official New York state snack, has taken a legislative step forward.

State Sen. Michael H. Ranzenhofer on Tuesday said the Senate Investigations and Government Operations Committee has approved Senate Bill No. S6695. The legislation, authored by Ranzenhofer, would designate yogurt as the official state snack.

A Byron-Bergen fourth-grade class, while studying the history and government of New York, wrote to Ranzenhofer to suggest the idea for the bill.
