Sweet Grass Dairy & The Georgia Conservancy Join Forces

THOMASVILLE, GA – Sweet Grass Dairy, one of the nation’s premier, family-owned, handcrafted cheesemakers, and the Georgia Conservancy, Georgia’s premier, member-supported environmental organization, are excited to announce a partnership aimed at increasing awareness of the Georgia Conservancy’s programs and mission.

“This was the perfect opportunity for us to get involved,” said Sweet Grass Dairy Owners Jeremy and Jessica Little. “We’re huge supporters of the Conservancy’s mission and goals. We want to help any way we can.”

The collaboration will kick off this week with the first of a series of planned house meetings throughout Georgia. Existing Conservancy members have volunteered to host their friends and neighbors in their homes for an evening filled with education, camaraderie and great food. Sweet Grass Dairy will be the exclusive cheese provider for all of these events.

“House meetings hosted by our members help us raise awareness about our work to conserve Georgia’s land and water,” said Georgia Conservancy Membership Director Jessica Gaylord. “They’re also a great way to reach potential new members because the hosts invite friends who they know have a similar interest in conservation.”

This is not the first time the Conservancy and Sweet Grass Dairy have teamed up. However, this is their first official affiliation. “We just felt that it was time,” said the Littles.

“We’ve tried to help out in the past, but it was more of a behind-the-scenes effort. Earlier this year, when the Conservancy approached us we realized it was time we put our full support on display and let people know that they stand for the same values we do.”

Long recognized as a leading force in shaping Georgia’s environmental policies, the Conservancy has always admired Sweet Grass Dairy’s commitment to old-world techniques and emphasis on sustainable practices.

“Not only does Sweet Grass Dairy truly care for their animals by allowing them to free-range and prohibiting the use of growth hormones, but they also practice a grazing method that takes care of the earth,” said Allie Kelly, Georgia Conservancy Senior Vice President.

“In utilizing these smart, efficient business practices, such as rotational grazing, Sweet Grass Dairy is also reducing their animal waste, reducing water waste from runoff and protecting water quality by reducing harmful erosion."
