Monrovia Announces 'Pink-A-Boo' The New Name For Pink Yuletide Camellia

AZUSA, Calif. – First introduced as a Monrovia exclusive variety in 2011, this stunning Camellia is a sport from the extremely popular red Yuletide Camellia, and thus temporarily named Pink Yuletide. Now she is called Pink-A-Boo® (Camellia sasanqua 'MonDel' P.P. #21687) and is a fantastic addition to the winter garden in Zones 7 – 10, or grown in a container in brought indoors in colder climates.

One of the rare fragrant Camellias, Pink-A-Boo has blooms that are deep pink and centered with bright yellow stamens.  Each dainty flower has seven petals, rather than five, making the flowers appear much larger.  An excellent choice for a colorful hedge or screen, espalier, or border shrub, this moderate grower will reach at least eight to ten feet tall and wide. A mid-season bloomer (October through December), Pink-A-Boo prefers filtered sun and regular watering during the first growing season or in extreme heat.  But once established, you'll find it requires less water and is quite tolerant of drier conditions.
