Village Nurseries To Expand Sunset Western Garden Collection Throughout California

ORANGE, Calif. — Village Nurseries, a specialty wholesale grower for landscape professionals, is now offering the Sunset Western Garden Collection™ to California landscape professionals and Southern California Home Depot stores, as well as select other retail garden centers throughout California.

Village Nurseries is the exclusive grower for the 29-plant Sunset Western Garden Collection under license from Plant Development Services which, in turn, is licensed by Sunset Publishing Corporation, long heralded as the expert authority on Western gardening. The exceptional collection is characterized by top performing plants selected especially for Western gardens with their unique climate, rainfall, year round temperature, wind and humidity. Many of these plants have longer bloom cycles, more vibrant and interesting foliage, lower water requirement and reduced maintenance.

“We feel the Sunset Western Garden Collection is a natural fit for our continued expansion of water efficient, climatically correct plants,” stated Brian Parker, lawn & garden merchant – Southern California for The Home Depot®. “Our Southern California partnership with local water agencies has been critical to our development of a more regionalized product mix specific to our geographic area. Saving time, water, and money is in everyone’s best interest. As the demand for these types of hybridized plants increase we want our customers to know they can count on The Home Depot to meet their needs.”

“The Sunset Western Garden Collection is the perfect addition to our independent nursery,” said Chrisann Sperbeck of Sperbeck's Nursery & Landscape, an independent nursery in Yuba City, Calif. “We are always looking for unique plants and quality plants for our customers and climate as well as for designs for our design and landscape projects, and your plant collection fills the bill. For example, I love the Nandina Flirt because it’s the perfect plant for a small Asian garden that requires a small accent plant with great color and form.”

“Our goal is to continuously offer new and superior plant materials that make it easy to Rethink Your Landscape™ and for contractors, designers and architects to create beautiful, enduring projects by trying plants in this collection,” explained David House, Village Nurseries CEO. “The expansion of the Sunset Western Garden Collection throughout the state represents an exceptional opportunity to maintain the momentum generated from last year’s agreement.”
