Made In Oklahoma: Plum Rich Beef

EDMOND — Like many entrepreneurs, Bart Richey and Hans Plum started a business selling a product they wanted but couldn’t find. But this search led the two Edmond residents to the meat business.

The high school acquaintances, who reconnected at a local gym, wanted to buy grass-fed beef to feed their families.

“We found that even though it was called grass-fed, they were still feeding grains to the cow before they were processed to fatten them up,” Richey said. “Our alternate route was going it on our own.”

That’s why Plum Rich Beef adds “grass-finished” to the description of their steaks, ground beef and roasts, to emphasize that the cows are not fed any grain.
