Whole Foods Brand Stuffs Bits Into New Smoky Bacon Sausage Links

For some of us, it's the perennial breakfast question.

The answer might be the new Smoky Bacon sausage from Chestnut Valley Charcuterie at Whole Foods Markets. It could mean never having to choose.

“There's actually real bacon in there,” says Chestnut Valley owner Charlie Ventre. With these links, he has realized what he says was a long dream of stuffing a sausage with bacon “that thinks it's a ham.” Joining the bacon chunks are touches of smoke, mild heat and brown sugar-maple.

Smoky Bacon sausage is one of Chestnut Valley's seven new fresh pork sausages available at all area Whole Foods Markets. Made of DuBreton pork raised in Canada without antibiotics or hormones, the sausage is free of nitrates, fillers or artificial additives. Using old-world techniques, each artisanal sausage is stuffed and tied by hand. They sell for $5.99 to $6.99 per pound.
