FirstFruits To Donate 10,000 Trees To Reforestation Projects

February 23, 2011; Yakima, WA. – FirstFruits Marketing of Washington, along with their growers, are living their charitable mission by giving back through their “Support Healthy Forests” campaign and committing to donate 10,000 trees to national reforestation projects.

During the months of March through May, all FirstFruits granny smith apples will feature special packaging and point of sale highlighting information about the Healthy Forests campaign.

The promotion is available to all retailers throughout the United States and is timed to coincide with Earth Day on April 22. For each case of granny smith apples purchased, FirstFruits will make a donation to the National Arbor Day Foundation. Retailers can support the program by promoting and displaying FirstFruits granny smith apples, holding display contests, running ads around Earth Day and featuring campaign messages.

The program is supported with promotionally themed packaging and supplementary materials that include high graphic display bins, posters and sign cards upon request.

Andy Tudor, Director of Marketing for FirstFruits Marketing commented, “The FirstFruits organization and its growers are committed to sustainable programs that support not only individuals, but the environment. The success of our “Take A Bite Out of Hunger” program provided confirmation that consumers want to purchase products from companies doing the right things. And for us the right thing is making sure that the legacy of our national forests continues to remain an important natural resource for generations to come”

The FirstFruits Healthy Forests campaign will provide education about the role that the nation’s 150+ forests play in providing habitat for wildlife, filtering the air we breathe, providing fresh drinking water to over 160 million Americans and offering recreation for thousands. More importantly, it will inform consumers that over 1 million acres of forest lands are in need of reforestation due to record wildfires and insect epidemics.
