GFVGA Expands Food Safety Consultation Services

Seeking to meet the needs our membership, the Georgia Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association recently announced plans to expand its current GA GAP Food Safety Program services with additional food safety consultants and with plans to develop microbial sampling, training, and custom sampling plans.

The GA GAP Program initially expanded existing services of mock audits for farm and packing facility operations and one-on-one on-farm food safety education with the addition of Katie Odrobina in 2012. With her leadership, the program implemented GFSI Food Safety Consultation audits, customized food safety plan development, and HACCP plan creation.

“The need for GFSI consultation has been overwhelming and we feel these expanded services are a direct response to comments and trends within the produce industry,” said Beth Oleson, GFVGA Director of Food Safety. “We want to provide the most assistance we can through our food safety programming so our grower members and operations can get their produce in the store as easily and efficiently as possible.”
