EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Food technology innovations company It’sFresh! Inc. announces it will expand its presence in the U.S., opening a new headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minn., an important milestone as the company escalates its service throughout the Americas tackling the challenge of food waste head on with key retailers. The company will move into its new office, located at 10400 Viking Drive, Eden Prairie, Minn. 55344, in February.
This announcement follows news in October of Food Freshness Technology becoming the debut investment of Anterra Capital, a new, global food and agriculture innovation fund assembled by Rabobank and Moonray Investors. “We’re excited to about the investment, this will help us accelerate our goal to reduce unnecessary food waste,” said Greg Pavett, president of It’sFresh! Inc. “The new location continues the momentum of our mission, also helped along by the new investment from Anterra.”
It’sFresh!’s current offering is a paper-thin technology in the form of a food grade sheet. It is easily inserted into bulk and retail fresh produce packaging, trapping ethylene, the natural ripening hormone that up until now, has been difficult to manage in-store and at home.
Now rolling out with select, major retailers, the technology extends product shelf life and quality by as many as three extra days in store, helping to curb the epidemic of food waste occurring not only in the Americas, but throughout the world. A noteworthy study completed earlier this year by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization found that global food waste amounts to 1.3 billion tons annually and results in an estimated $750 billion in economic losses.
