Produce Pavilion At N.G.A. Show Showcases Top Companies & Latest Innovations

Arlington, VA – The 2012 N.G.A. Show will feature a new collaboration with The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) that will bring together more than 20 produce companies into 2,500 square feet of exhibit space on the EXPO floor called “The PMA Produce Pavilion.”

The PMA Produce Pavilion will provide independent grocers and attendees of The N.G.A. Show access to some of the top firms that grow, pack and distribute produce, and provide services to the industry. The Produce Pavilion, located in the heart of the EXPO floor, will highlight an important category for independent grocers with a significant impact on the bottom line.

“N.G.A. is pleased to work together with PMA in creating this new opportunity for our members attending this year’s show,” said Peter Larkin, N.G.A. President and CEO. “This is the type of collaboration our members are asking for and we hope it brings greater value not only to independent grocers attending but PMA members as well.”

Top produce executives will be available in the PMA Produce Pavilion for business-to-business meetings and to provide information about the latest industry innovations, products and services available to help grow sales. The PMA Produce Pavilion not only provides an important resource for N.G.A.’s member companies, but also affords PMA member companies with a unique opportunity to showcase their products and interact with independent retailers and wholesalers they may not regularly do business with.

“PMA is excited for the opportunity to build a strong presence at this year’s N.G.A. Show and highlight what our members can offer independent grocers,” said PMA President and CEO Bryan Silbermann. “With the increase in demand for healthy and convenient fresh food options, the produce department is an important point of differentiation for many independents and our members want to help supply those needs.”

The N.G.A. Show, co-located together with the Independent Grocer Alliance (IGA) Global Rally, takes place February 12-15, 2012 at the Mirage Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The PMA Produce Pavilion will be open 12-4pm, Monday and Tuesday (February 13-14) and will be among more than 200 exhibitors and nearly 35,000 square feet of vendor space. A list of participating PMA member companies participating in this year’s Show can be found at www.theNGAshow.com.

The PMA collaboration is just one of several new features and industry partnerships that is enhancing the value proposition for attendees of this year’s N.G.A. Show. As part of NGAs Member Value Proposition (MVP), the national trade association is transforming the way it delivers value to members on a wide spectrum of programs. N.G.A. has launched several initiatives during the past year to strengthen member services, industry collaboration, available resources and government relations operations, among other priorities.

About N.G.A.:

N.G.A. is the national trade association representing the retail and wholesale grocers that comprise the independent sector of the food distribution industry. An independent retailer is a privately owned or controlled food retail company operating a variety of formats. Most independent operators are serviced by wholesale distributors, while others may be partially or fully self-distributing. Some are publicly traded but with controlling shares held by the family and others are employee owned. Independents are the true "entrepreneurs" of the grocery industry and dedicated to their customers, associates, and communities. N.G.A. members include retail and wholesale grocers, state grocers associations, as well as manufacturers and service suppliers. For more information about N.G.A. and the independent sector of the industry, see the N.G.A. website: www.NationalGrocers.org.
