Turbana Bananas & Fyffes Gold Pineapples Create Educational Experiences For Children Of Milwaukee

Coral Gables, Florida –Turbana bananas and Fyffes Gold pineapples are now available at the Sendik’s Food Market exhibit located in the Betty Brinn Children's Museum in Milwaukee. The addition of the new pretend fruits will build upon the exhibit’s current efforts being made by Sendik’s and the children’s museum to provide hands-on educational experiences that help children acquire fundamental academic and social skills during their formative years. Turbana’s exciting new partnership with the museum and its continued partnership with Sendik’s Food Markets supports the leading produce provider’s contributions to its “Growing Smiles, Sharing Goodness” movement that aims to inspire individuals to eat healthy, be active and get involved in their communities. By having healthy fruits represented in the exhibit, Turbana is helping to create a connection between fun and healthy food choices for children.

“Turbana’s new partnership with the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum and continued partnership with Sendik’s is perfectly aligned with its longstanding dedication to supporting its retail partners and their communities,” says Marion Tabard, director of marketing at Turbana. “Turbana believes creating an environment for children where fun and healthy fruits coexist is important. Turbana is proud to work with Sendik’s and the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum to provide that opportunity to the children of Milwaukee.”

Since 2007, the Sendik's Food Market exhibit, located in the Home Town area, has been one of the favorite stops for young guests at the Betty Brinn Children's Museum. It offers an engaging setting that encourages children to sort, stock and shop as they enjoy fun, hands-on and role-play experiences. These activities help develop the children’s abilities to share, cooperate and play with others as they explore early math, literacy and financial literacy. The Sendik’s exhibit also helps children learn more about workplace roles and responsibilities and the people, places and processes that make a community successful. In addition to the permanent Sendik's exhibit, the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum and its vendor partners also sponsor the annual Not-So-Scary Halloween and Valentine Ice Cream Social events.

"The Betty Brinn Children's Museum is one of Milwaukee's gems," said Ted Balistreri, family co-owner of Sendik's Food Markets. "As a local, family-owned company, we're proud to support local organizations like the Betty Brinn. Turbana shares our passion for community, and we welcome them to our family of vendor partners who are making an impact on the lives of Milwaukee's children.”

“The museum is deeply grateful for our longstanding partnership with Sendik’s Food Markets and vendor partners like Turbana that understand the importance of quality early education to a child’s success in school and in life,” said Kristen Adams, the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum’s chief advancement officer. “More than 1.4 million children and adults have benefited from the educational activities offered in our Sendik’s Food Market exhibit since its debut in 2007 and now, we’re delighted to highlight Turbana and Fyffes for the next generation of children who will visit our beloved market.”
