NEWPORT, Ore — Officials say the opening of the commercial Dungeness crab season will be delayed along the entire Oregon Coast to give the crustaceans enough time to beef up.
Though the season generally begins on Dec 1, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said this year it will not begin until at least Dec 16.
They noted that the season “can be delayed to ensure a high-quality product to consumers and avoid wastage of the resource.”
